Können die Scheinwerfer von 1999 zur Innenraumreinigung demontiert werden?

Chris here in Wales!  I was wondering if the later headlights could be dismantled to clean the interior. The reflector is dirty in mine. Anyone have any experience / advice.

Mine is a Final Edition 1999/2000 1.8 ADH.

Hey Chris,
you should be able to dismantle the headlights.
There should be stainless steel brackets which hold the glass in place. Be careful not do damage the seal.
Your reflectors are probably not dirty but damaged. Usually the reflecting layer has to be renewed.

Thanks Jona. Do you know how I would recover the reflectors or if any other Audi models used the same reflectors?

Hallo Chris,

please be careful to cleaning the reflectors.
They only have a little layer of steamt silver . Any contact with fingers or chemical fluids damaged the layer.
Wear vinyl cloves and use soft cloth and destilled water . No rubbing !
It´s the best to test on an invisible area .
You might not be able to get new seals. That could be a problem.

Dear Chris

please do not clean the interior of the headlights! As the guys already wrote you will damage the chrome coat of the Headlights.
If they are already damaged, there is a company in Germany who will repair them, named reflektorklinik. Maybe there is a similar
company in the UK too?!

By the way: the headlight seal is not available anymore at Audi Spareparts Germany. Maybe you can ask your UK-Dealerhip if they are still available in the UK.

I will look into that company you’ve mentioned and also look out for a good second hand set here in the UK.

Who’s have thought spare parts could get so valuable!
